Today, we did a job where a company we were working for needed to sound-proof a office space. With having previously installed a suspended ceiling in there, they came to us for advice.
With suspended ceilings, you get great access to above them, making this a very easy subject to approach. We suggested the use of 150mm bagged fibre glass, also great for improving a rooms ability to retain heat, or 600x600 sound blockers, which dampen the sound by 46 decibels. They decided to use both. This choice means that sound dampening will effectively be done. With the sound blockers there to stop any sound creeping through the space and into the void, with the fibre glass acting like a blanket to give it that little bit of extra protection.
